Time for a sustainable site visit, Vienna style

Meeting Destination Vienna is the perfect place for your next meeting - especially if you value sustainability. In specially curated site visits, the Vienna Convention Bureau team shows you Vienna from its green and social side.

As an Austrian Ecolabel licensee since 2011, we are authorized to officially certify events as "Green Meetings". To give you an insight into everything the destination has to offer, we are now organizing sustainable site visits. We will take you round certified venues, check out restaurants specializing in local cuisine and walk you through some of the bespoke programs that put social responsibility at the heart of your socials.

A few details about your sustainable site visit to Meeting Destination Vienna:

Travel
Wherever practicable, you will arrive by train. If there is no alternative to flying, we will offset the CO₂ emissions on your behalf.
Getting around in Vienna
Vienna is a city where everything is relatively close at hand. We will be moving around on foot most of the time, and any time we need to go further afield we’ll be using the outstanding Wiener Linien public transportation network.
Accommodation
You will stay exclusively in certified hotels (at present, about 50 hotels in Vienna have been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel).
Venues
We will show you a selection of venues in Meeting Destination Vienna that have a specific focus on sustainability. There are currently around 40 venues in the capital that have achieved Austrian Ecolabel certification – and the number is growing all the time.
Restaurants
Vienna is famous for its fine food. During your sustainable site visit, you will get the chance to sample a selection of locally sourced and seasonal delicacies. We will also be more than happy to show you some of the city’s vegetarian and vegan restaurants.
Social program
We’ll give you an insight into some of the activities on offer, with a specific focus on social responsibility and the environment. From city tours with special content to baking in a very special setting – we’ve got a few surprises in store!
